The Light Shed is a studio constructed in a residential back garden that responds to the brief to create a space that would encompass both a home working environment as well as an open play space for the family to enjoy as an extension to their home and garden.
This custom designed studio focuses on family, play and work as a trifecta of interconnected programmes that are organic and flow with the ever changing circumstances of digitally nomadic life style and ethos, which is delivered through bespoke timber cladding in corrugated panels and lined with birch plywood.
With custom designed storage and shelving The Light Shed serves to establish a productive home working space whilst simultaneously being able to be used as an extended play space within the garden throughout the year and an additional WC.
The birch plywood interior cladding provides a soft yet streamlined interior whilst the frosted polycarbonate roofing allow a generous amount of light whilst sheltering from direct sunlight in this south facing garden. Flooring is a durable matte vinyl and all materials ensure a considered design aesthetic whilst being mindful of the budget provided.
